AXYS® Intellivox DC / DS and DSX Ranges The biggest challenge facing a sound system designer is devising a system which will have a high direct to reverberant sound ratio. i.e. maximising the sound that arrives directly to the listeners ear, whilst reducing the sound energy reflected off walls, ceilings and other acoustically reflective surfaces. This is why Duran Audio developed DDC (Digital Directivity Control) and DDS (Digital Directivity Synthesis) the technologies utilised throughout the AXYS® Intellivox range. (See our technologies pages for detailed explanations of DDC and DDS) Using our AXYS® WinControl software you can control the vertical directivity pattern of Intellivox products and aim the sound where you want it - At the listener. When configured correctly these column speakers give increased intelligibility in reverbarent spaces and consistent SPL, whether you are close to the speaker or further away. Description The standard Intellivox DC and DS column speakers are 134mm wide, 92 mm deep and available in 5 lengths. 1150mm, 1800mm, 2800mm, 4300mm and 5000mm. The longer the array, the more of control you have over the directivity. They each have an array of 4 inch drivers built in amplification and DSP. The DC/DS 115 has 2 additional tweeters to extend the frequency range.
This makes them ideally suited for applications where a more "hi-fi" sound quality is required. The Intellivox DSX is available in 1800mm, 2800mm, 4300mm and 5000mm lengths. For an even wider frequency range we also manufacture the DC/DS 808 which is 1278mm in length and the DC/DS 1608 which is 3738mm in length. These units are slightly bigger at 198mm wide and 156mm deep, to house 6.5 inch drivers. This makes the speakers better suited to Music as well as speach. The electronics module for these units comes separated in a 3RU enclosure. Safety Features In addition to the DSP, Intellivox products are equipped with a RISC processor to take care of surveillance routines, which are performed every 1/20 second. In addition to this the RISC is monitored by a watchdog, which in the event of a failure will reset the RISC. Surveillance functions include, but are not limited to: • Pilot tone detection • Amplifier load surveillance • Ambient microphone surveillance • Amplifier surveillance • Temperature surveillance • DSP functionality All relevant status parameters and temperatures can be monitored via the RS-485 network. Failures can be reported by the on board failure relay or via one of the many features offered by WinControl. |

The AXYS® Intellivox DSX products have the same dimensions as their DC/DS equivalent, but include a small horn array; resulting in a frequency response that is extended to 18 kHz.
