It is not uncommon for a Railway Station in a large city to handle more than 40M passengers a year. Keeping passengers on the move in a busy station brings significant challenges to the station managers and operators, a good PA system can help overcome some of these challenges on a day to day basis by providing an effective means of communication between the operator and passengers.

In large railway station the PA system is the primary way of communicating with the passengers, more often than not these systems are now Public Address/Voice Alarm systems, so they are also used as the primary form of communication in the event of a fire or other emergency.

What did they just announce? You wouldn’t accept an email with half the words missing as an effective form of communication so why accept an unintelligible PA system? The most effective PA/VA system is the one that delivers a clear and understandable message the first time. In an emergency situation this means that passengers can act quickly and precisely to the message and in more day to day scenarios it means that a passenger can understand that platform change announcement or last call message and get home to their loved ones on time, therefore reducing stress, improving their customer experience and their perception of your station.

So what’s the big deal about a Public Address system? It’s just speakers, some amps and a microphone isn’t it? Large Railway Stations tend to consist of spaces that have large volumes which are finished with surfaces that are acoustically very hard. This poses a significant challenge to the sound system designer.
So what’s the solution? Well back in the 1990’s Duran Audio developed the AXYS Intellivox range. The Intellivox is designed to deliver the ultimate intelligibility in even the most challenging of acoustic environments. The Intellivox delivers the sound where you want it, at the listener, and reduces the amount of energy that bounces around the room (reverberation).

The AXYS Intellivox is designed to be the ultimate message delivery service; delivering clear and intelligible announcements to your passengers. Intellivox keeps them safe and helps to reduce stress levels.

When you need intelligibility Intellivox delivers:

  • Clear and Intelligible messages
  • A great looking sound system, Intellivox units can be colour matched or recessed to make them almost invisible.
  • A safe and reliable system, Intellivox comes with an extensive set of surveillance features.
  • A system that is easy to install and maintain

Oh and before you ask it sounds great for background music too! If you want to learn more about Intellivox then click on one of the links below:
