The role of a modern Theatre Sound Designer is very varied and as a result the designer needs to call upon an array of different loudspeakers to fulfil the productions requirements. Duran Audio has a full range of AXYS products ideally suited to the designer’s needs.

You will often see the words "Total Transparency" associated with the AXYS brand, what do they mean? Well Duran Audio believes that the loudspeaker should provide an accurate reproduction of the source and not some coloured, incoherent or distorted version of it. Sound Reinforcement

More often than not the designer is called upon to provide reinforcement to the performers and/or musicians. The AXYS Target, Source and Scope ranges are the ideal choice for the FOH (proscenium system) on a Theatre or Arena show. They offer great dynamic range, an uncoloured reproduction of the source and a great transient response. And when you need to consider your subwoofer options then we have all the bases covered from a very compact single 15" unit right up to a 21" sub. All of our subwoofers can either be used as standard products (with cross-overs) or in Beam Shaping mode which allows you to control the dispersion characteristics of an array of subwoofers.

But what about front fills and under balcony fills? Well that's when you need to start looking at our Flex range.

Sound Effects

Gone are the days when thunder effects were created by smashing hammers against huge sheets of steel. Sure there is still a place in theatre for the good old fashioned spot effect of a telephone ringing or a door slamming but there is a newer more immersive dimension to sound effects today as well. With Ambisonics and other surround methods becoming more and more popular with Theatre Sound Designers then you will often see a large number of surround loudspeakers in the theatre. The AXYS Flex range is perfectly suited for both “spot effects” and surrounds.

More than just a great sounding box
